Support 4Kira4Moms When You Shop October–December

The last three months were the busiest ever for me here at Joey for Roo which is exciting for many reasons, one of them being it means I get to make JFR's biggest donation ever to a nonprofit! Now I'm eager to break that new record in the next three months to benefit a wonderful organization doing great work; 4Kira4Moms.

4Kira4Moms was founded in honor of Kira Johnson who tragically lost her life after a routine c-section at Cedars Sinai. Kira was bleeding internally for more than 10 hours before the medical staff at Cedars Sinai took action. Her untimely death left behind her newborn and 19-month-old sons, her husband Charles, and all others who loved her. My heart breaks whenever I think about her, her husband, or her sweet boys.

"4Kira4Moms was founded with the mission to advocate for improved maternal health policies and regulations, to educate the public about the impact of maternal mortality in communities, provide peer support to the victim's family, friends, and promote the idea that maternal mortality should be viewed, and discussed as a human rights issue."

I am so inspired by the dedication of Kira's husband, Charles. He is determined to do whatever he can to make sure that what happened to his wife never happens to another mother. He uses his voice and Kira's story to advocate for change at the Congressional level. They have already been successful in passing important legislation, such as the Preventing Maternal Deaths Act. The organization is currently calling on Congress to pass HR 1212, The Kira Johnson Act, to improve maternal health outcomes for racial and ethnic minority groups and other underserved populations. Please join me in donating to support their efforts, either by making a direct donation on their website or shopping online in our store where 10% of all online sales will be donated to 4Kira4Moms.
