We're Supporting the Shades of Blue Project in August

We're proud to announce that 10% of all online sales in August will be donated to the Shades of Blue Project! This organization is dedicated to breaking cultural barriers in maternal mental health by raising awareness and ensuring action is taken to break the stigma surrounding seeking treatment in the minority community when experiencing complications after childbirth. They achieve this by helping women before, during, and after childbirth with maternal mental health advocacy, treatment, and support.⠀

The Shades of Blue Project was founded by the incredible Kay Matthews. After delivering her daughter stillborn, she recognized a void in the postpartum support field and sought to make a difference in her community. She is the founder of Black Maternal Mental Health Week (celebrated in July) and is a true advocate for change needed to improve the experience and wellbeing for Black mothers. ⠀

Kay told Parents Magazine, "If all women receive the same quality of care, then there would be no need to have specific care for Black women in the future. Acknowledgment, respect, and support are the three things that must be present in our care treatment because without it we continue to experience racism and lack of care every time we go into clinics and hospitals seeking treatment." ⠀

Please consider making a purchase in our online store and we will donate 10% of all sales in August to this worthy organization. If you'd like to learn more or donate directly to the Shades of Blue Project, please visit their website at www.shadesofblueproject.org.
