Little Seeds of Doubt
Even the most well-meaning people can plant little seeds of doubt in our minds. It’s almost like that special brand of mom-doubt has become a “must-have” item of parenthood. Something we don’t register for but inevitably end up getting anyways. “That’s what’s your feeding him?” “Don’t you want to put something warmer on her?” “You’ll see: the only way to get them to ______ is to ______...”⠀
Why do we do this to each other? We all have felt the sting of these words and we’ve also been the ones delivering them. I truly believe the solution lies in those words above: trust your intuition. We doubt ourselves and then feel the need to prove ourselves to others (either consciously or subconsciously) by showing them how much we know, and then this in turn makes them feel doubt, and the cycle continues. ⠀
What are some things people have said to you that caused you to doubt yourself? No judgment here! Tell me in the comments below.
